It's Deja Vu all over again, as I went out to check out Rad Rob's in Shelton, CT today. Like the DG II satellite, Rad Rob's is closing after about 20 years in the business. If it gives you gray hair, I got my first "pro" skateboard at Rad Rob's while I was in grammar school. Rad Rob's had been in the skate and BMX scene forever. The owner told me today that it wasn't the economy -- he sold his house last year with the intent of moving to his summer home in Florida.
They officially closed yesterday, but the owner was there and let me browse a bit. The store is still fairly stocked, mostly with BMX/Skate/Mtn gear, and he's offering everything at 20-90% off. They're putting most everything up on eBay, so get in there quick, before some tool from Oklahoma bids $100 on chain tensioners.
90 Bridgeport Ave., Shelton.
If you're riding, take Rt.34 (not so safe) to the Shelton-Derby Bridge and take a left. Go over the bridge and take a left, then your first right onto Bridgeport Ave -- it's about 1/2 mile up on the left.
