Ghostship Collective in Mountain Bike Action Magazine

The Ghostship Collective's break-thru performance this past weekend in the NYCMTB's Hustle and Flow event has grabbed attention of the media.

Mountain Bike Action Magazine article...

To paraphrase:
"The Ghostship Team from Connecticut repeated their domination of the team category, breaking their own course record by a whopping 19 seconds."

"Notable performances included the team XC leg ridden by endurance racer Doug Jenne (Ghostship Clothing), whose under 4-minute time broke the previous course record by over a minute."

Tracklocross Update

Tracklocross is just over a week away (Saturday, 4/11) and Team Wreckstuff posted some pics from their course recon last weekend. It's going to be more brutal than last year's race, featuring a checkpoint that will simply be known as "tetanus." The guys putting on this race have been longtime supporters of New Haven's races and it's always a blast when they come up to ride with us. The Scorchers are proud to be saying that we'll be sponsoring this race and encourage anyone who isn't going to show up, ride, get muddy, or just laugh at everyone else who is. Just as a heads up on the rules, here's the deal:

We here at Tracklocross Headquarters would like to take this opportunity to announce some simple things about Tracklocross 2009:

1. FIXED OR SLICKS RULE
: Your bike must either have either a fixed gear, or slick tires no fatter than 25mm. Want to ride your cyclocross bike? Fine, as long as you throw proper road tires on it. Wanna ride your fixed gear? Great. You're allowed to use cross tires. What? You only ride singlespeeds? All right, just make sure it has slicks.

2. SPECIAL TRACK BIKE CATEGORY
: There will be a special prize for the highest-placing rider riding a track bike. By track bike, we mean a bike with: a fixed gear, geared at greater than or equal to 49x16 (700x23c). Plugged drop bars. No brakes. Slick tires.

Bike Shorts

The next Bike Shorts will be taking place on April 12th... which is conveniently the day after Tracklocross for everyone who is planning on making a weekend of it in NYC. The deadline for submissions is April 5th and it will be taking place at Galapagos. Some more details about the event:

Bike Shorts is a low-key event to share whatever you've been working on with like-minded folks. It is is not a festival. We started Bike Shorts because we know there are a lot of people out there creating great stuff, and it should be easier to share and show your work.

So get out there, strap your camera to your head, and make some movies. You know what though? If all you're gonna do is strap your camera to your head and film you & your buddies dodging traffic, you're not going to win the $100 cash prize. So be original. Be creative. Impress us.

Oh, and just so you know: the winner is determined solely by the biased opinion of the audience, so bring your friends!

The Granddad Returns

No official date yet. Or is there? Got a little out of hand and "cancelled" last year, only to be resurrected word-of-mouth to those in the know. 200+ yokels on brakeless bikes in Manhattan can be a bit unnerving to a race organizer...
