Last minute Grand Theft Velo shop sponsors come out in droves! Trackstar, Affinity, King Kog, Eighth Inch, Shop Gentei

Grand Theft Velo 3 promises to be bigger than ever, and we've got the last minute sponsor add-ons to prove it!

TRACKSTAR
is one of NYC's preeminent (and one of the oldest) fixed-gear-specific shops. They've helped us out in the past, and we couldn't be more psyched that they're helping again. Back during the original Route 1 Stage Race leading up to the CMWC's in NY, we had the opportunity to hang with Team Trackstar. Trackstar is a rad group of guys 'n gals.

AFFINITY CYCLES
has a knack for custom builds, and rarely shy away from finding some ultra-rare parts. They're keeping pace at the Kissena Velodrome as well. They've also emerged as a frame builder of some of the most sought after bikes on the East Coast.

KING KOG
was one of our earliest event sponsors for the original Grand Theft Velo, signing on over 6 months before the race. They've been a force in the NY scene for some time now, and currently kill it with their sponsored riders, most notably Austin Horse and Sarah Murder.

EIGHTH INCH
is the fixed-specific wing of the Wheel & Sprocket Co.. They carry a ridiculously large assortment of everything you would need for your whip, delivered to your door. They've also entered the frame and fork business with their Scrambler.

SHOP GENTEI
may be the true originator of the Track Boutique, placing as much emphasis on the fashion and culture surrounding the urban cyclist as the bicycle itself. It's a business plan that's worked, as they now hold two locations -- Baltimore and Towson, MD.

GTV3 is THIS Saturday, so get on it!

Raw Revolution in as a sponsor.

Raw Revolution, makers of raw, organic, vegan food bars just sent a 20 lb. package for pre, during, and post race fuel for all the GTV racers. I recommend the spirulina/cashew one as long as you don't mind having green teeth right after you eat it.

Velocity Chukker -- the new wheel

A while back, we found out about a new project Velocity was working on that would rival the H-Plus-Son rims that were storming the market. Apparently, that wasn't the only thing they were working on. Friday, on the Velocity blog they gave us a peek at their newest creation, the Chukker.

Anodized colors and non-machined sidewalls to keep the cost down, with 26" and 700c sizing. They're referring to it as a "Deep V on steroids". It definitely appears beefier, let's hope it can stand up to some good abuse.

Milwaukee Bicycle / Ben's Cycle to sponsor Grand Theft Velo

We're excited to announce that Ben's Cycle / Milwaukee Bicycle have signed on as a sponsor for Grand Theft Velo III on May 16th.

www.benscycle.net

Ben's is one of the few companies that has truly kept up with the demands of all types of cyclists, especially the urban ilk. Their mission is to bring you the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices. Their inventory rivals many wholesale suppliers. After perusing their site, give 'em a call as the site lists only a fraction of their total inventory.
As the fixed cyclista blogosphere will tell you, the new Milwaukee Bruiser is one of the most coveted items available in the world of 700CMX/Trick Riding/Tarck right now, and it ain't even out yet. We recently had the opportunity to test ride the beast.

We're not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet, but let's just say their support will be HUGE.

B.I.K.E. DVD's at GTV

B.I.K.E.
= a documentary following a drug addicted NYC bikester as he attempts to join the Black Label Society. It's caused a bit of stir in the urban cycling community. It's one of those things you either love or hate. Myself, I hated it the first time I watched it and loved it the second time. Well, now you get to decide for yourself, as Fountainhead has donated a sh!t-ton of copies of the B.I.K.E. DVD for Grand Theft Velo. Come out and race, and there's a good chance you're going home with a copy.

IRO x GTV3

Iro Cycle has signed on as a sponsor for this summer's Grand Theft Velo 3 alleycat in New Haven.

Velocity Plus Son

Not to be outdone Velocity is getting ready to drop new rims that will be 1mm deeper than H Plus Son's Formation Face and SL42 rims.

The lowdown from Velocity's President John Black:

"If all goes as planned, they should be readily available this spring....I hope. It is called the B43, because it is 43mm tall, making it 1mm taller than our very worthy and formidable competition. We were thinking of calling it the Brisbane 43, but decided that was too much so we shortened it to the B43. Then we discovered that was a nuke that was in the US arsenal, so I guess the name has a bit of a dual meaning."
